TTM Tuesday: William Daniels

Late last year I sent an autograph request to actor William Daniels and I got it back last week.

Daniels has appeared in a ton of plays, movies, and television shows. For me he will be known as the voice of KITT on Knight Rider and as George Feeny on the show Boy Meets World. He was also the President of the Screen Actors Guild for a few years in the late 90's and early 2000's.

I sent two 4 x 6 photos.

He signed this one of him as part of the cast of Boy Meets World, but didn't sign the photo of KITT.

He sent a little card for an upcoming book.
I'll probably send the photo of KITT back at some point.

How about you? Have any memories of William Daniels?

January 31st - Backward Day

Today is Backward Day. Here are a few cards of players wearing their hat backward.

Which one should make it into my Every Day's A Holiday card binder for Backward Day? Let me know if the comments below.

Update as of 2/20/17 - I found my card for Backward Day.

3 out of 43 is not a good percentage.

3 out of 43 is 6.9%. It could be worse.

I purchased a 43 card lot on ebay recently and of the 43 Paul Goldschmidt cards I only needed 3 of them.

These put my at 14 new Goldschmidt cards for 2017 and a total of 231 different Goldschmidt cards.

Here they are.

Did everyone get two different 2016 Bowman Chrome cards?

It's like having my own Card Shop Loyalty Program Update

I've been posting a lot lately. This will be my 42nd post this month. I've been posting so that everyone will have plenty of opportunities to earn points towards my It's like having my own Card Shop Loyalty Program.

The plan was to run the experiment through January and January is almost over. I haven't decided if I will end it on January 31st or if I'll keep it going. There is a lot to consider. Let's review.

Positives
It's forced me to be more active on the blog than I have been for a long time. In addition to my blog, I've also been more active within the blogosphere.

I've had 89 comments from 33 different people comment on since I started the program.

I've tried to reply to each comment, which helps me with tracking, but it also helps me engage more with the blogosphere.

I've added some sweet cards to my collection from fellow bloggers that I may or may not have added if I hadn't had the program going.

Negatives
I've been paranoid about the tracking aspect since it's not something that can be automated. I have to do it manually and for some reason I don't always get notified by email when someone comments. I think I've tracked everything up to this point, but I'm not sure. If I missed anything, please let me know.

I'm not sure everyone is aware of the program. Maybe I need to mention it briefly in every post, so that everyone is aware.

Neutral
By my count there are 7 bloggers with enough points to claim a card, but nobody has as of yet claimed a prize. There are several possible reasons for this. It might be because the prizes aren't desirable. It could be because people aren't sure how many points they have. It might be because people are waiting to earn more points before claiming a something.

Alright, so here's an update.

HOF Class of 2017: Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez

Ivan Rodriguez was recently elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and will be inducted this summer and so I thought I would organize my Ivan Rodriguez collection.

I have 136 different Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez cards.

Here is a breakdown by year. In parenthesis are the number of different cards I have from that year.

1991 (1) Minor League Card

1991 (1) Rookie Card

1992 (2)

1993 (4)

1994 (2)

1995 (4)

1996 (1)

1997 (4)

1998 (7)

1999 (9)

2000 (17)

2001 (1)

2002 (15)

2003 (20)

2004 (19)

2005 (10)

2006 (3)

2007 (5)

2008 (7)

2009 (2)

2010 (2)

Rodriguez played for the Texas Rangers (1991 -2002), Florida Marlins (2003), Detroit Tigers (2004 - 2008), New York Yankees (2008), Houston Astros (2009), Texas Rangers (2009), and Washington Nationals (2010 - 2011).

When I look at my Ivan Rodriguez collection I have a few thoughts.

1) Happy to have a RC and at least 100 cards of the new Hall of Famer. No game used or autograph. Not looking to add any more at this point.

2) I was shocked at how many cards (26) I have of Pudge as a Marlin considering he only spent one year in Florida. The cards are from both 2003 and 2004.

3) I was surprised that there were so many years (11) that I had 4 or fewer cards.

4) In addition to 136 different cards, I have 46 doubles.

5) I have cards of Rodriguez from 5 out of 6 of the teams that he played on and from both his stints with the Rangers I don't have any cards of him with the Yankees.

6) I don't have any cards of Ivan from his final season; 2011. Nothing after 2010.

Let's take a quick look at some card backs and see what we can find out about Pudge.

So there it is, a recap of my Ivan Rodriguez collection. I'm going to do this for the rest of the 2017 Hall of Fame class in future posts.

I'm only a couple months behind.

I haven't showed off my Black Friday order from comc.com yet. It needed to be sorted, scanned, and put away. I'm just getting around to it now.

The majority are Goldschmidt cards. I know I bought them in 2016, but since I'm not sorting them and putting them away until 2017 I'm going to count them towards my 2017 Paul Goldschmidt goals.

I don't feel guilty about this because I think I'll probably end up doubling my original goal by the end of the year.

I bought 13 Goldschmidt cards on Black Friday, but I've already added two of the card in between then and now, so here are the 11 new Goldschmidt cards for my collection.

The rest of the comc.com order.

No commentary...just cardboard.
